Tuesday evening some of Cape Breton’s finest musicians gather at
the Christmas Island Fire Hall to share the stage with emerging talent
and local tradition bearers in bilingual Gaelic-English concerts. A
traditional Tea including oatcakes and tea biscuits is served during
intermission.
Admission $10.00, Children 14 and under $5.00

July 13th - Mòd Nam Fìdhlearan -The Fiddler’s
Court
Come and help us
kick off this year’s Gaelic Concert Series with a night of traditional fiddling,
piano playing & dancing. Join our Fear An Taighe Lewis MacKinnon in
welcoming Cape Breton fiddlers Sandy MacIntyre and
Jennifer Roland, along with piano accompanist Adam Young. Also performing
tonight is the Boisdale Trio & Father Francis Cameron, local tradition
bearers featuring three fiddles and piano accompaniment. Féis instructors Jody
MacKenzie and Anita MacDonald will step-dance to the fiddlers.
July 20th - Fuinn Gàidhlig - Gaelic Airs
Join us for an
evening of celebrating Gaelic song and music. Fear an Taighe Jeff MacDonald
will welcome Dwayne Cote, deemed one of Atlantic Canada’s most unique fiddlers
and violinists. Joining Dwayne will be Doug MacPhee, a celebrated piano
accompanist and piper Wally Ellison. Also sharing the stage will be local
tradition bearers, the Iona Gaelic Singers. The audience will also be treated
to some Gaelic songs from Jody and Anita.

Gaelic Song
Tonight’s concert features the strong Gaelic
singing tradition of the area, alongside Cape Breton
fiddling and piano playing. Bean an Taighe Mary Jane Lamond will MC the evening
and share her unique style of performing traditional Gaelic songs. Joining Mary
Jane will be Brenda Stubbert and Howie MacDonald, both well-known fiddlers and
piano accompanists. Local Gaelic singers Beth MacNeil, Barry George, Anita
MacDonald, and Jody MacKenzie will also perform tonight, and there will be a
traditional milling set for the audience to enjoy.
August 3rd- A’

Our Youth
Tonight we are thrilled to present some of
our finest young musicians. Bean an Taighe Anita MacDonald will host the
evening, welcoming fiddler Douglas Cameron, piano accompanist Robbie Fraser,
and piper Thomas Harrington. Step-dancer and Gaelic singer Cullen MacInnis will
also be sharing the stage. Also appearing tonight are local musicians, fiddler
Anita MacDonald, accompanied by Evan Bonaparte and Lauren MacDonald on guitar.
Anita and fellow Féis instructor Jody MacKenzie will perform Gaelic songs and
step-dance for us.
August 10th-Beòlach
Beòlach is Gaelic for 'lively youth'. Beòlach
is one of Cape Breton's most exciting young bands. Bean
an Taighe Beth MacNeil will MC and welcome the band to our stage. The group performs an energetic mix of Cape Breton,
Scottish, and Irish tunes, featuring Wendy MacIssac on fiddle, Ryan J. MacNeil
on pipes and whistles, and Pat Gillis on guitar. Tracey Dares-MacNeil will be
accompanying the group on piano. Also enjoy some step-dancing to the lively
tunes as Jody & Anita perform.
